These DNA-free and DNase/RNase-free sampling swabs have been tested by an independent lab. Puritan purposely had this test done to the most stringent standards (less than 25 pg of human DNA). The result? Certified to be DNA-free at a threshold lower than any other swabs on the market today.

These round foam-tipped buccal swabs are placed in the subject's mouth. The inside of the cheek is vigorously swabbed, resulting in the transfer of buccal cells onto the foam bulb of the swab. Swabs in general are the least invasive way of collecting DNA specimens for diagnostic purposes. In contrast to blood samples, swabs have the additional benefit of minimizing exposure to blood-borne pathogens. The foam tip can then be stored for later processing or pressed against a Whatman FTA Card for processing and archiving. Each box includes 50 individual swabs.
